Hello! I can’t believe it’s been almost three months since I last posted here. All of Lent, and now all of Easter – phew! I’ve missed you. Seriously. I have been wanting to hop online and update everyone but I wasn’t sure where to begin.

For a start, I wanted to thank (from the bottom of my heart) every one of you who took the time to write and check-in, who offered kind encouragement and let me know you were praying. Your words meant more than you could possibly know, and every email in my inbox was a bright spot in my day, and a radiant reminder of the beautiful community we’ve built here. So, thank you.

Many of you voiced your concerns for my family’s health, especially my husband. I am happy to report that we are all in excellent health, praise the Lord! My husband is still in remission, and we are starting to look ahead to how we want to celebrate his 2 years being cancer free this December (2 years is a significant milestone with testicular cancer because recurrence rarely occurs after that).

So what have I been up to all this time, you ask? Well, I’ve been busy with homeschool, starting an American Heritage Girls troop at our church (not sure if you’ve heard of AHG; it’s kind of like Christian Girl Scouts), and continuing work on my novel, but if I’m honest, these things aren’t what’s kept me from blogging.

This autumn was a really harsh wake up to me of just how unkind the internet can be. I tried very hard to handle the national unrest with grace, but it was a rough season for me emotionally, and I was reluctant to “put myself out there” online until I’d recuperated. Probably you all are far more socially savvy than I and knew better than to wade into the murk and muck of the last months (I know it’s a mess all over the world, not just here in the States), but what can I say? I learned some hard lessons, and I can only say I’m sadder but (hopefully) wiser for the learning.

And now I’m back! We’ve had three birthdays (including little Honey’s first!), a first communion, and another Mother’s Day go whizzing by. School is winding down for the year – and I’m already starting to plan for fall. We’re gearing up for summer: vacations, and beach days, and barbecues, and park dates, and blue skies, and corn-on-the-cob, and sleeping under stars, and oh – just so much joy! I can’t wait to share it with you, dear readers.

Because as so many of you reminded me in these last few months, no matter how dark things may seem, the world really is full of kind, compassionate, beautiful people. Thank you for being here – and for being you.
